Thank you.
Sounds beautiful.
Brendel is one the most inspiring pianist of all the time.
THX!
Thank you.
Nice blog.
Thanks once more, Fly, for an interesting edition. I still have to compare with the original version (I have the Italian concerto and BWV 903 on the "Artist's Choice" Collection).
One remark: I'm not sure whether this is "one of the best recordings" of these works, as you wrote. To me it seems that there is much more Brendel than Bach in this reading (played beautifully, no question!). For me, some kind of reference forever will be Gould. And there is "more Bach", I think, in Koroliovs readings, and even in Grigory Sokolovs (as idiosyncratic he might be). Anyway, it's beautiful for itself, and Brendel is a great pianist (I like his Haydn). Just a few thoughts...
Best wishes,
Andy.
Grazie, Fly. Ho il disco e conosco i problemi di cui parli... Forse tagli di montaggio...
Allows me the freedom to translate you: "Thank you, Fly. I have the disc and I know the problems you mention ... Perhaps mounting cuts ..."
It's strange but even in the label "PHILIPS" there are some recordings cared less. There remains the quality of the music and the performers :)
Grazie della traduzione, Fly. E concordo con te: Brendel ha suonato poco Bach ma questo disco è oro, puro oro.
Andy:
I didn't say this is the best cd of those works. It's, in my opinion, one of four or six best cds of these works... :)
Respect Brendel, pianist very competent and honest, but his specialty isn't Bach. However, I think he was 'bach-inspired' when he made these recordings :)
merci bien
Thank you very much! Do you have the Brahms-Piano-Concertos wieht Brendel and Haitink? Kind regards, Rigoletto
Rigoletto:
I don't have the cd.
Excellent! Thanks a lot!. Gould? He play very precisely, mathematically as a machine, sometimes sound like a music box.
