This is undoubtedly one of the best interpretations of this work. A friend of mine saw a performance of Peter and he was very impressed. At the time he told me that this CD was sold out. And voila! Here he is! Thank you, Fly. Your blog is lovely and I like the 'educational' format.

É com muita satisfação que descobri este blogue. Parabéns pelo seu bom gosto. Maior é a satisfação por ser um blogue de um português e por ter músicos portugueses. Obrigada.

Beautiful, Fly...a rather cerebral but simultaneously soothing interpretation judging from the "aria" sample you've posted, perhaps fit for the insomniac as JSB intended.

Thank you so much.

A series of Portuguese pianists! Now that is something special indeed. I wish my Portuguese were better and I could say more than obrigadinho (en Olhaense…).

Wow! I am on my second listen with the FLAC's run through a headphone amp and good "cans" and agree this is amongst the most compelling interpretations of the venerable GV's. I have had trouble with the cue sheet, doesn't work well with my cue splitter but was able to edit it and if i'm the only one it must just be my antiquated (pun intended) Midaeval Cue Splitter, which I use to split the single FLAC into tracks that play with FooBar or my Cowon J3.

Does anyone else have a suggestion for a better cue splitter?

Thanks!

I liked his playing from the first notes on, and I wasn't disappointed by the rest. Thank you so much for letting me know this pianist.

Convert Flac/Cue to Wav or Burn Flac/Cue to CD:

If you have problems converting files in FLAC / CUE to MP3 or WAV format or if you want to burn a CD directly from CUE files, try this software. It is old and simple, but it works.

A striking and above all thoughtful interpretation. I love the tempo for variation 19, which throws a completely different light on it to the usual faster speed.

Mac users can deal with cue files and FLAC audio using the free application XLD, which simultaneously splits the file and re-encodes it as, for example, Apple lossless. Invaluable.

Hi Fly, Thank you so much for this GV, played by an (to me until now) unknown pianst. It's nice to meet all these Portugese composers and pianists! Love your blog!

Anymore music posting from Burmester ? Yes, I am hooked on his interpretation. and I checked Amazon, there is a CD of his Schumann/Liszt.

now, I need to dig out Lifchitz's Goldberg to compare.....

Thank you very much !

I really appreciate this version of the Goldberg Variations. I am listening to it now.
However, there seems to be a problem with the FLAC file. I have downloaded it twice, and yet the file is missing the opening Aria. The file immediately starts with the first variation.
Can you please check?
Thank you very much.

I downloaded the two files (there are two: part1 and part2) and all is well. Many visitors (623) have downloaded this album and no one complained or indicated that error ... Make sure you are not making a mistake.
