Lukas Geniusas / Winner Second Prize (ex equo)




Lukas Geniušas winner second prize (ex equo) in the 16th International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw in 2010, and also the special award of Fryderyk Chopin Society for the best performance of a polonaise in Stage II.

Born 1 July 1990 in Moscow. Currently a student of Vera Gornostaeva at Moscow's Tchaikovsky Conservatory. Laureate of many youth contests, including the Chopin competition in Moscow and the Gina Bachauer in Salt Lake City.

Second prize winner in the Scottish International Piano Competition, 2007. Performs a vast repertoire ranging from baroque to contemporary music as a soloist and a chamber musician.

Has appeared in the Warsaw-based National Philharmonic with the Lithuanian Symphony orchestra, and with the Pomeranian Philharmonic Orchestra in Bydgoszcz to mark the 160th anniversary of Chopin's death, 2009.
