Yulianna Avdeeva / Winner First Prize

At the age of five Yulianna Avdeeva began her studies at the Gnessin Special Music College in Moscow and continued to work with her first teacher Elena Ivanova until 2003. Following graduation, she decided to study abroad with Professor Konstantin Scherbakov at the Zuercher Hochschule der Kuenste - at the same time she also continued her studies in Moscow at the Russian Gnessin Academy of Music with Professor Vladimir Tropp. From 2006 to 2009 she has been serving as assistant to Konstantin Scherbakov. Since 2008 Yulianna Avdeeva studies at the prestigious International Piano Academy Lake Como.


Yulianna Avdeeva the winner of the Geneva International Music Competition (2006) and prize-winner of many piano competitions: First Prize in the Carl Czerny Young Pianists Competition in Prague (1997), Grand Prix in the First All-Russia Open Competition in Moscow (2000), First Prize in the Fifth 'Arthur Rubinstein in Memoriam' Young Pianists Competition in Bydgoszcz (2002), First Prize in the Twelfth A. M. A. Calabria International Piano Competition in Italy (2002), First Prize in the I. J. Paderewski International Piano Competition in Bydgoszcz (2007), Second Prize in the Bremen Piano Competition in Germany (2003), Second Prize in the Fourth Spanish Composers International Piano Competition in Madrid (2003), Second Prize in the Fifteenth 'Citta di Cantù' International Competition for Piano and Orchestra in Italy (2005) and Third Prize in the Kurt Leimer Piano Competition in Zurich (2005). In October 2010 she won the Ist prize in the 16th International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition and the special Krystan Zimermann's prize for the best interpretation of the sonata.

She has appeared in prestigious concert halls in Moscow and also performed in many other cities in Russia and over twenty other countries, including Austria, UK, USA, France, Germany, Israel, Belgium, Japan, Greece, Italy and RSA, in such famous halls as the Bösendorfer-Saal in Vienna and the Barbican Centre in London.

Performances by Yulianna Avdeeva have been recorded onto CD and are often played on Russian television and radio.
